Hello, I hope the day is beautiful in Japan. I hope this letter does not inconvenience you.

I have been working on breeding my Pao Baileyi. Less then a week after introducing them into a breeding tank, they spawned. However, the eggs are getting scattered around as they did not stay in the cave. Should I put them in an egg tumbler to incubate? Or should I keep them with the male until they are about to hatch?

私は、パオバイレイの繁殖に取り組んでいます。飼育水槽に導入して1週間も経たないうちに、産卵しました。しかし、卵が巣穴にとどまらなかったため、あちこちに散らばってきています。エッグタンブラーに入れて孵化させたほうがいいのでしょうか？それとも、孵化寸前までオスと一緒にしておいた方がいいのでしょうか？


A:
The hatching rate will be higher if the male puffer fish parents are responsible for hatching the eggs rather than humans.
However, spilled eggs will be collected in an egg tumbler or similar device to attempt artificial hatching.
When the eggs have developed to the point where the eyeballs can be seen, the male should be released from the eggs and aeration should be performed near the eggs to ensure that they hatch.
Hatching will vary depending on the water temperature, but should take about 10 days.

孵化は人間が行うよりフグのオス親に任せたほうが孵化率は上がります。
ただし、こぼれ出した卵はエッグタンブラーなどに回収して人工孵化を試みます。
卵の発生が進み目玉が見える程度に発達したら、オスを卵から離し、卵の近くでエアレーションを行い確実に孵化させます。
孵化は水温によって異なりますが、10日程度で孵化します。
