I was speaking to my regular aquarium staff and the girl mentioned that it is likely you have some experience or knowledge of a condition that some of my pea puffers have developed – some from a young age. The symptom noticed is a red lump on the puffers neck (or throat area) and it starts small and grows quite large. I have tried various medications unsuccessfully. I can’t tell if the issue is a parasite or some kind of bacterial infection.
One of my tanks has about 40 pea puffers in it, 1 adult fish has the issue and at least 3 of the juveniles have it. One of the previous adults had the issue and she passed away recently at only 1 year old. I have noticed that just about all of them seem to be female. (I don’t know if that is relevant).
Can you recommend any specific medications for this issue that i can try?

The cause has not been identified, but it has recently been discovered that a component in betel nut powder may alleviate the symptoms.

C.travancoricusの顎の下辺りに出来る赤い腫瘍は確認されています。メスだけではなくオスにも発症する事はあります。

Thank you kindly for your response. I have been trying to find Betel Nut powder but it appears to be illegal
in Australia. Since my email to you in May , i have around 30 or so pea puffers with the same problem now.
Some have already died from it. Have you known of any successful testing of Betel nut 'leaf' as an alternative
for me to try?
As you can see by the number of my affected fish , this is becoming quite a major issue for my Pea Puffers.
I appreciate any further assistance /suggestions you have.
